About Dr. Deletra

Dr. Deletra Hudson, MBA, is America’s Municipal Transformation Strategist, the Founder and Principal Consultant of Deletra Hudson LLC, a municipal finance consulting firm based in St. Louis, Missouri. A nationally recognized municipal finance executive, author, and speaker with over 25 years of experience, she has dedicated her career to transforming local government operations and strengthening community-focused economic systems.

Dr. Hudson brings firsthand knowledge of how cities function because she has worked inside them. Her career includes serving as a City Manager, City Clerk, Budget Director, and City Treasurer, where she managed multimillion-dollar public funds, led audit preparation and corrective actions, stabilized financially distressed municipalities, and implemented systems that improved transparency, accountability, and service delivery.

Throughout her career, she has partnered with elected officials, administrators, and governing bodies to help them understand their financial position, make informed decisions, and lead with confidence. Her approach blends technical expertise with practical application, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that leaders can use immediately.

Her experience spans corporations, municipalities, non-profit agencies, small businesses, and professionals, with a particular passion for supporting African American–led municipalities and under-resourced communities. In these communities, access to strong financial systems can directly impact public trust, service delivery, and long-term economic growth.

Beyond her consulting work, Dr. Hudson is the founder of the Financial Wellness Institute of America (FWIA), an academy that teaches adults and youth how to strengthen their financial position through healthy money management, wealth protection, and legacy creation. She is also an award-winning author, whose books include Money Doesn’t Grow on Trees and AJ Discovers the $2 Bill under her new publishing company, Money Matter$ Publishing, as well as the bestselling collaboration #BossMoms.
